A Collection of Samples as
a Reservoir of Forms
 
 
 
The museum´s founding principle is based on the historical concept of a collection of samples compiled in the interest of knowledge transfer and the development of taste. Today, the information stored in the forms thus collected still bespeaks a knowledge which can faciliate the interpretation of culture.
Originally two-dimensional examples from the collection (ornamental engravings and design sketches) are transformed by Krüger & Pardeller into material results and hence brought to life as things. In doing so, the process of materialization is intentionally left in limbo between sketch and execution. the motifs thus become objects in an abstracted, implied manner; this allows them to encounter each other on one single level without regard to origin and tradition...
